Introduction We have been doing a lot of different things in science. so many that i cannot even name them all! The thing that I am testing is density and how fast it takes different liquids to seperate after mixed for 5 seconds. I did this project because it gave me a reason to use food coloring and see how different liquids mix. I started out testing how long it would take for the liquids to seperate after mixed for one minute and then once i actually tested it i realized it only took five seconds to mix everything. The independent variable is the different liquids and the dependent variable is the time.
I. Hypothesis I predict that it will take about a minute for the liquids to seperate. I also predict that water will be the most dense except for the juice. i have seen things that were mixed together like lava lamps and others and i predict that it would not act like a lava lamp because the liquids wont be held together like in a lava lamp. II. Materials and Methods to do this project i had to get vegetable oil, apple juice, and orange juice. Since i already have water the only other thing tat i needed to buy was food coloring so that i could tell what liquids were mixed. what i did was take all of the different things and laid them out on the table and then got the five containers and put the liquids in. then i mixed everything and recorded how long it took for each of them to seperate. Conclusion i conclude that when i mix any liquid with vegetable oil, it will seperate. in the end it took 45 scond for the liquids to seperate which was much quicker than i expected. so i conclude that the vegetable oil is the least dense. V. Explanation The vegetable oil was the least dense out of every liquid that I mixed. Also the water, vinegar, and juices had the sma densities.
